Dropzone Commander – more plastic, (even) more affordable!

Being a huge fan of the great game from Hawk Wargames, I found it my duty to keep you updated about recent developments. For many out there, the initial costs for the game were just slightly too high. Now there is big news: The starter armies will be available for a bargain in plastic.

This means essentially not being forced to buy the two player starter, but also advancing your current army with the solid core choices included in every starter set. Furthermore there are also plastic models available for Shaltari and PHR, which makes these exotic forces probably more common on our tabletops in close future. The costs of the starter sets are around 35 GBP, so just half the price of resin models. Owning both, resin as well as plastic miniatures of Scourge and UCM, I can say, that detail levels are different, yet just visible on short distance (I mean very short!).

What does the addition of further plastic releases tell us about Hawk Wargames – well I think at least that they are doing well money wise. Producing plastic is usually just affordable if sales are high – at least much higher compared to resin casting.

Secondly the shift shows us that the guys behind DZC still care about their community and try to make the game as fair priced as possible. As far as I am concerned the plastic releases and the new wave of superb resistance miniatures are just another step on a stairway upwards to compete with the big ones on the market.

Well done!
